Pra Ajarn Tawatchai Thammatipo was ordained in 1994 at age 29 at Saingam Thammatararam Temple, Supanburi Province, Thailand. The temple’s abbot, Ajarn Yai Thammataro, taught him the dharma practice based on “The Four Foundations for Mindfulness (Satipattana4) and The Noble Eightfold Path. The practice is aimed to raise the awareness of senses by raising one’s hands
As the Buddha said, “ Sammin shite Pasari te Sampashana Garee Hoti” or or “practice awareness by raising your forearms close to your body (making a V shape) ”
When practicing “awareness” while raising your forarms, you also wiggle your fingers. When there is “Passa” or contacts, “Vedhana” or sense occur. When you turn your awareness of the senses inward, it will gradually be sensed by your mind base (Mano Sam-patt), located at the center of your chest, near xiphoid process, enabling you to see the rise and fall of “Khandha 5” inside.
After 3 months and 7 days Pra Ajarn Thammatipo’s realization of how to be free from such sufferings was crystallized.
At the end of that year’s Buddhist lent, his mother invited him to make a pilgrimage to Taimuang District, Phang Nga Province, Thailand. His mother obtained a permission from the then Head of the Sub-District monks, Pra Ajarn Jitt, who allowed him to reside at the above mentioned location.
After that, Mr. Sathaporn Aksarachaipruk, one of his father’s brothers, established a Dharma training center called, “Baan Wang Muang Training Center”.
After successful Dharma practice trainings for their staff, Thailand’s Ministry of Education changed the name of the center to , “Bann Wung Muang, The Individual Private Center of Mind Development in the Honor of H.M. the King”, the first privately-owned dharma training center in Thailand.
To dedicate the merit Their Majesties the King and the Queen; Pra Ajarn Tawatchai Thammatipo has led Dharma practice, based on Mind Training method, sending out loving compassion in the “Mind Training Dedicating Merit to H.M. the King” Project, and the “Million Hearts for the Mother of the Land” Project, organized by the then Ministry of Education Administrators, and The Department of Medicine.
During the Buddhajayanti year, 2600th anniversary of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, The Dharma Chakra has moved forward taking the Dharma Crusaders to promote the Buddha’s teachings for the benefits of all mankind.
Training their minds by adopting the practices of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness(Satipattana4) and The Noble Eightfold Path, people will acquire the intelligence to see the genuine truth and develop the right outlooks. Their thoughts, speeches and behaviors will be positive, benefiting not only themselves and their families, but also the community in which they reside. The country will then have capable and kind hearted human resources. When more and more people train their minds
along the above practices, world will be peaceful as Lord Buddha said,
“Jittan Tantang Sukhawahang.”
Well Trained minds bring forth happiness.
